Roman Trabura

born 1960

Roman Trabura was born on July 21, 1960 in Wallachia (Vsetín or Slavicin). He was an artist from a young age and in 1978 he moved to Prague, where he began to penetrate the artistic environment. In the 1980s he participated in group exhibitions such as Konfrontace I (1986) and Konfrontace II (1987). His first solo exhibition took place in 1988 in Prague, at the Cíl cultural center. From 1990 to 1997, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, especially in the monumental painting studio under the guidance of professors such as Jiří Načeradský and Aleš Veselý. During his studies, he also completed stays abroad – for example, at La Rectoria in Barcelona (1991) and at Nottingham Trent University in Great Britain. Roman Trabura is characterized by an artistic style that combines realistic elements with fantasy motifs and a strong sense of atmosphere. He lives and works mainly in Prague, from where he participates in the cultural events of the Czech art scene.

CREATION AND RECOGNITION

Creation and recognition Roman Trabury's work is rich and diverse. His works have been exhibited in many galleries in the Czech Republic and abroad, such as the Václav Špála Gallery in Prague (exhibition "Light Obsession"), the Peron Gallery, the Dolmen Gallery, the Atrium in Prague and others. His works are represented in important collections, for example the Olomouc Museum of Art owns the painting *Newt* (1995, oil, 98×118 cm). Roman has also received scholarships from the J. + M. Jelinek Stiftung in several years (e.g. 1991, 1995, 1997, 2000, 2006) and was awarded the annual prize for illustrations by the Mladá fronta publishing house. Trabur's works undergo stylistic transformations — from lyrical landscapes, through imaginary cities, to comic-style scenes, often with a touch of surrealism or reflection on society. His mastery lies in his ability to transport the viewer into an inner world full of symbols, light, and tension.
