Jitka Nesnídalová

born 1983

Jitka Nesnídalová (born September 8, 1983 in Dačice) is a Czech painter, author of lithographs, objects and installations, who is one of the prominent figures of contemporary fine art. She grew up in Staré Město pod Landštejnem, where she has been painting since childhood, and in 1990 she moved with her family to Jindřichův Hradec. Here she attended a language school and drawing courses, which shaped her early artistic expression. In 1999–2003 she studied at the Secondary School of Applied Arts of St. Agnes of Bohemia in Český Krumlov, majoring in applied painting, where she acquired the first systematic foundations of her work.

In 2004, she was accepted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where she studied at Milan Knížák's Intermedia Studio, then worked with Michael Rittstein and finally at Zdeněk Beran's studio of classical painting techniques. She supplemented her studies with a pedagogical minimum at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and completed internships abroad in Great Britain and Austria, which significantly broadened her artistic horizons.

She currently lives and works in Prague's Nové Svět district, in the house where painter Jan Zrzavý once lived, directly opposite the house of filmmaker Jan Švankmajer. Her work is regularly presented at exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad and bears a distinctive signature, characterized by authenticity and a sense of atmosphere. Since 1992, she has been signing her works with the brand JIN, which became its recognizable symbol.
